The Wedge Salad

I am in LOVE with this simple salad!  I first had "The Wedge" salad at a fancy restaurant a few years ago, and I have literally thought about it ever since.  I usually use spring greens, romaine lettuce or spinach for my salads, so I wouldn't think iceberg lettuce could compare.  It DOES!  This is SUPER simple to throw together, and make sure you make the homemade blue cheese dressing.  It takes minutes to whip up and you usually have all the ingredients on hand, and also NO OIL(usually soy bean) that is in almost all the dressings at the store.  It also looks really fun and is really cheap to make.

After eating this my husband said, "Ok, I think I am going to start ordering this salad at restaurants now!"

Ingredients:

1/2 head of iceberg lettuce
1/2 cup homemade Blue cheese dressing
1/2 large tomato, chopped
4 slices of beef or turkey bacon, cooked, chopped ( I did this the day before to save time)
1/4 small red onion, chopped

Slice half of the lettuce in 1/2 on more time.  (You should have two wedges).  Place the lettuce on it's side or lay the rounded part down so the peak is at the top.  Drizzle with homemade blue cheese dressing, sprinkle the rest of the toppings.  Done!  Serve immediately & enjoy!!!

  1. Had this salad when a rep took us to Morton's steak house and loved it. Made it tonight with your homemade bleu cheese dressing, split pea soup with ham and garlic toast (gluten free). Uncle Geff loved the salad and even said the toast was tasty. He guessed it was gluten free because he saw me prepare it, but he did call it tasty! Marshall loved both as well. Good job, Amber!!
